PrEP Training for Community and Public Health Staff

Path
Enrollment for this course is currently closed.

This path is composed of several courses (called Goals). The Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board is working with Cardea to create a Learning Path for providers who see American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) clients. Take this series of courses to learn about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, and how to help AI/AN clients benefit from this effective prevention tool.

About this Path

Pre Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, is a powerful biomedical tool that can help prevent new cases of HIV, yet many providers know little about it, and do not discuss it with their clients. This is especially true for staff who work within or are associated with the Indian Health Service (IHS) system of care and who see American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) clients.  PrEP Training for Community and Public Health Staff is a series of courses that aim to increase knowledge and awareness of the benefits of PrEP.

Each course, or Goal, can be completed independently in your own time. More courses will be added to the Learning Path as they become available.

Click on the Goals tab, next to the About tab, to see the list of courses included in this path.  You will need to enroll in each one separately.

The series includes:

  1. PrEP Basics
  2. PrEP Screening and Eligibility
  3. Initial and Follow-up PrEP Visits
  4. Understanding PrEP Special Situations and Stigma (Estimated release: July, 2020)
