About this Independent Study

As a result of completing this course, clinicians, counselors, community health workers, and other health care staff will be able to discuss aspects of gender identity, gender discrimination and gender-related health disparities and how they impact clients. They will practice skills for assessing and treating gender-diverse clients who may be at risk for HIV or who have HIV.

Who Should Take This Course 

Nurses, clinicians, counselors, community health workers, and other health care staff who work with clients who may be at risk of HIV or who have HIV.

Continuing Education

Community Health Worker 

Texas community health workers (CHWs) can apply for 2.0 hours of continuing CHW education, which includes 1 hour of knowledge base and 1 hour of Interpersonal Skills.

Cardea is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services to provide continuing CHW hours in Texas, Certification #44.

Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)

Cardea Services is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Upon successful completion of this CE activity 1.3 contact hour(s) will be awarded.

Successful completion of this continuing nursing education activity includes the following:
