About the Training

Texas Opioid Prevention for K-12 Students (TOPS) is presenting in-person in Andrews, Texas. This interactive session brings together community members and professionals to explore key topics related to substance misuse in the community. 

The session also covers how opioids like fentanyl affect the body, the impact of illicit fentanyl on communities, and emerging drug threats that affect youth. Emphasis is placed on raising awareness and identifying practical ways to support prevention and community-based response efforts.

Objectives:

  • Explain what illicit fentanyl is and how it is different from prescription fentanyl.
  • Recognize how illicit fentanyl is entering and circulating in illegal drug supply.
  • Identify emerging drug threats that pose a risk to youth.
  • Understand the impact of illicit fentanyl and other emerging threats on students, schools, and communities.

Audience

Community members who are interested in promoting the health and well-being of youth by deepening their understanding of substance use.

Format

This session is a live in-person session.  It is highly interactive and will consist of a conversation with community members about substance use and resoruces in their community followed by a presentation on fentanyl and merging drugs.

Snacks and beverages will be provided.
