About the Training

This session examines how stigma, trauma, and co-occurring conditions impact youth substance use and access to care. Participants will explore how bias and stigma create barriers to services and influence engagement, as well as how trauma affects brain development, behavior, and health outcomes.

The training introduces core principles of trauma-informed care and highlights strategies for creating safe, supportive, and client-centered environments. Participants will also examine how substance use, mental health, and other conditions intersect, with a focus on improving equity and responsiveness for diverse youth populations. 

Audience

People looking to support young people in substance use prevention, whether families and caregivers, or those working or volunteering in youth-serving organizations like schools, churches, health care, law enforcement, mental health, sports clubs, drug abatement programs, and more.

Format

This session will be conducted via Zoom. You will need a computer, microphone and speakers, or a headset to participate.
