About the Training

This session focuses on practical approaches for identifying and responding to substance use among adolescents. Participants will learn the purpose and core components of evidence-based screening tools such as SBIRT and CRAFFT.

The training also explores strategies for having effective, person-centered conversations using motivational interviewing techniques and peer-based communication approaches. Participants will learn how to make appropriate referrals and better understand the roles of peer support specialists and community health workers in supporting youth access to care.

Audience

People looking to support young people in substance use prevention, whether families and caregivers, or those working or volunteering in youth-serving organizations like schools, churches, health care, law enforcement, mental health, sports clubs, drug abatement programs, and more.

Format

This session will be conducted via Zoom. You will need a computer, microphone and speakers, or a headset to participate.
