Course
Course Goal
This course aims to equip Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) in Texas with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively manage STI/HIV cases, conduct notification and patient interviews, and enhance communication and partner elicitation strategies.
Learner Audience
New DIS and supervisors in Texas who:
- Have been in their role at least 3 months
- Have completed the DIS Fundamentals Training Plan, prioritizing Passport to Partner Services Modules
The maximum number of participants is 12. If this course is full, you will be added to a waitlist.
Objectives
By the end of this training, learners will be able to:
- Model appropriate DIS interviewing techniques with clients
- Demonstrate how to effectively communicate basic STI/HIV information to clients
- Demonstrate assertive communication skills
- Apply problem-solving methodologies to issues encountered in client interactions
- Explain the key components of the seven steps of syphilis case management
- Accurately plot a visual case analysis (VCA)
Course Completion
- Learners must achieve a minimum score of 80% on a comprehensive entrance exam.
- Learners must complete all course requirements and attend the entire course to receive a certificate of completion.

4. Pre-test FSTDI |
5. Post-test and Evaluation FSTDIPass the Post-test and complete the evaluation to receive your certificate of completion |
