Foundations of Testing and Navigation IN-PERSON
Course
The goal of this in-person, 3-day course is to prepare new prevention specialists to perform HIV tests, deliver results and initiate status-neutral navigation.
Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will have an opportunity to:
- Describe the status-neutral continuum (including PrEP, PEP, U=U)
- Explain combination prevention using the Healthy Options Job Aid
- Describe stigma and its impact on health inequities
- Define and mitigate unconscious bias
- Apply the process outlined in the Conversation Guide
Course Completion
- Participants are expected to complete all parts of the course, and attend fully, in order to receive a certificate of completion.
- The maximum number of participants is 10. If this course is full, please enroll in the next training.
- Participants are expected to attend every session and complete all course work to receive their certificate of completion.
- DSHS has requested the contact information of participants who are unable to complete the course for potential follow-up to learn about barriers to course completion.
In-Person 2024 Session Dates: All sessions run from 9:00AM-5:00PM, Central Time
Each course will open about 37 days prior to the course registration deadline (1 week before the first day of training) to allow for prerequisite and training confirmation.
- April 24, 25, 26 (Pre-work opens Mar 27 and Post-work closes May 3) in Austin, TX.
- July 24, 25, 26 (Pre-work opens June 19 and Post-work closes Aug 2) in Dallas, TX.
- Aug 14, 15, 16 (Pre-work opens July 17 and Post-work closes Aug 23) in San Antonio, TX.
- Oct 16, 17, 18 (Pre-work opens Sep 11 and Post-work closes Oct 25) in Rio Grande Valley, TX.
